As a collective, I feel like the passing of Diane Keaton is not just a sorrowful outpouring from millions of her fans, but a reminder that the only legacy you need to leave behind is the kindness you showed towards people. Scrolling on TikTok, I came across so many non-celebrity folks telling their experiences of having met the actress at some point in their life. All of them said how cool, friendly, funny and kind she was upon meeting. That’s how she treated those she didn’t even know, I can only assume how loving and caring she was as a friend and a mother. Sure, it’s so easy for an actress to smile, take a selfie and say thanks to a stranger on the street, but according to TikTok, Diane Keaton took the time to have a conversation with them. And I think that’s nice and genuine, because for most famous celebrities, the second you hear that they were a real person, it should humble you. It should humble you in that whatever your own ambitions are in life, the success you want and will achieve won’t matter more than how you made someone feel.
