I Am My Valentine.

On one of the most commercial holidays of the year, I choose to celebrate myself. Whether or not there is a significant other in the picture is irrelevant, because self love takes priority. If I cannot love myself for all the ways I am, perfect and imperfect, then there is no loving another.

I’m going to treat myself to something that I genuinely enjoy, a material item, a dinner and movie date for one, a long bubble bath. A delicious, guiltily food delivery that I don’t have to share, while rewatching Mad Men episodes in peace and a scented candle wafting in the background. Sometimes all I have and need is me. You can show your love and fancy gifts with me anytime you want to, but I will always be my valentine.
