5 Good Independent Films to Watch for Free on Tubi
Best in Show (2000) directed by Christopher Guest - starring Parker Posey, Catherine O’Hara, Jennifer Coolidge, Eugene Levy: A Christopher Guest film is purely improvisational comedy. Actors receive a storyline, but no script of dialogue. The caliber of acting is highly impressive featuring Guest’s usual crew who frequent in all his films. This mockumentary style film takes place at a national dog show in Philadelphia showing the at times erratic behavior of not the dogs, but of its owners. As a dog mom myself, this film is rewatched with love and laughs as it truly portrays dog parents at their best and worst.
Clockwatchers (1997) directed by Jill Sprecher - starring Parker Posey, Lisa Kudrow, Toni Collette, Alanna Ubech: An indie comedy-drama about temp office co-workers who are treated like outcasts within their corporate office setting. Temping was what freelancing was back then and even still today, nobody ever really trusts a freelancer - why I don’t know, maybe a full-time employee envies the freedom a temp has when it comes to work? So when an in-office theft situation arises naturally all fingers point to the temps. At a 90’s slow burn pace, in a way is befitting since one becomes timid watching the time go by slowly, especially if you’re a temp and yearning to clock out for the day.
