Mejuri is Hiring Lead Producer (Toronto)

Currently hiring for a full-time Lead Producer who is creative, production, and process oriented with a breadth of experience in producing and assessing photo/video content against brand standards as well as production requirements and constraints. This role will have a small team of direct reports along with freelance production support where required.

As part of the creative team at Mejuri, you have a fashion-forward eye and your artistic taste is key in implementing and executing the team’s content creation needs against the broader creative vision. You must also have a strong awareness of production execution and operations - hands on in your approach, always attentive to opportunities for optimization, and well-versed in production best practices while willing and able to subvert the status quo. Your eye for quality is ultimately what sets you apart in being able to understand the nuances between what makes photography and video work great versus excellent.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years experience in photo production, photography, design, or related field

  • Proficient in relevant tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, etcStrong understanding of the creative process

  • Proficient experience in managing key production phases - pre-production, (prep - including the determination and organization of skus, casting, style pulls, etc), production (photo & video shoots), and post-production (retouching, selects, etc)

  • Scope, schedule, budget development and management for productions

  • Contract / Fee negotiation with production partners and follow-through on execution of agreed on work, including timely actualization and invoicing of finances

  • Knowledge of and advocate for photo & video creation best practices, with a focus on editorial/fashion

  • Strong technical understanding of photography best practices around equipment selection and use, camera, lighting, set-up, and propping

  • Strong list of reputable vendors for hire Current with industry standards for fees/rates

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the quality of creative work with the execution team by inspiring excellence, providing direction and constructive feedback

  • Conceptualize creative solutions that address marketing and business objectives

  • Research new content creation ideas, stay on top of new methods and trends

  • Assess creative work to ensure ideas are as powerful in reality as they are in conceptIn collaboration with the Creative Director and Creative Studio Manager, lead with passion, guide & coach the team on career direction, development, growth and performance

  • Contribute to organizational learnings and process improvement

  • Build and nurture cross-functional relationships - you are at the centre of many teams and needs, and must be able to filter and triage information to action

  • Financially proficient - ability to arrange contracts with People Operations (HR) and manage the execution of the contracts; accurate budget creation and strong actualization skills; following correct financial procedures for project closure (i.e. invoicing)

  • Scoping and determining best production approach (cost, effort, and execution plan) to fulfill briefs from creative leadership for projects such as: Marketing Campaigns, Editorial Content (also in collaboration with Editorial Director), Weekly Product Drops + Product Narratives, Business as Usual (Emails, Social, Ads) when required

  • Production/Content Creation of the above includes but is not limited to: sourcing, recommending, & booking photographers / directors / etc; sourcing, recommending, & booking talent (models); sourcing, recommending, & booking stylists for productions; sourcing & booking crew (in collaboration with photographers / directors where applicable); sourcing, recommending, & booking post-production support (retouchers, editors, and similar); compiling and recommending photo selects based on deliverable requirements

  • Maintaining the brand’s style guidelines as they relate to productions; contributing to their evolution as needed and under direction from Creative, Editorial, and Merchandising leadership

  • Photo and production standards, staying informed on current / ‘next’ trends, engaging and maintaining partner relationships in content creation

  • Owning and contributing to guidelines as they relate to photography / content creation. eComm & general photo standards (Consultative - where it overlaps and impacts overall photography standards)

  • Consulting on studio operations & improvements - requirements and best practices

  • Consulting on e-Commerce outputs for on-figure photography
