5 Books I Hope To Get For Christmas
Iโve asked anyone who is in a position to gift me this holiday season to only give me books. Hoping and promising to myself to read even more than I already do in the coming year, because some days my head feels like exploding from doom scrolling. Naturally, my wishlist is long enough to keep myself busily inspired, but these are my top five picks that would be dream gifts.
THE BOOK OF WOMENโS FRIENDSHIP edited by Rachel Cooke * $35 hardcover (check for sale price)
A compilation from over 100 writers exploring female relationships and how they provide a vital role to our life. Includes works by Jane Austen to Zadie Smith this book contemplates the rarity and solidarity between all types of womenโs friendships.
THE BROTHER KARAMAZOV by Fyodor Dostoevsky * $20 papberback Bicentennial Edition (check for sale price)
This is the holy grail of books to read for me and 2026 is the year I finally just do it. A murders mystery, courtroom drama, love triangles and sibling rivalry, it sounds like a perfect recipe for an HBO series.
SWEET DAYS OF DISCIPLINE by Fleur Jaeggy * $13.95 paperback (check for sale price)
The writing style has been compared to Otessa Moshfegh, this novel revolves around obsession and made love set in postwar Switzerland in a boarding school. One booktokโer described it as a strange coming-of -age story with terrifying psychological plot line.
WUTHERING HEIGHTS by Emily Brontรซ * $16.78 (check sale price)
As a BroaItโs been years since Iโve read this classic, but now with the upcoming feature film coming out would like to give it a reread. I do fancy the illustration on this Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition. This story involves Heathcliff and Catherine who share a tumultuous love for one another and the consequences of betrayal.
THE MASTER & MARGARITA by Mikhail Bulgakov * $10.99 paperback 50th anniversary edition
Speaking of book adapted to feature films, Iโm hoping to read this before Johnny Depp revives it onto the big screen. Story takes place in Soviet, Moscow where the devil wreaks havoc in the city while a madman and his lover Margarita tries to maintain order. Apparently this satirical masterpiece in the days living in the Soviet Union was written secretly during Joseph Stalinโs regime. I am very interested.
