Review: Futurewise

First a vocabulary lesson, a word to add into your growing skincare vernacular is slugging. Slugging is the process of applying an occlusive layer (exterior barrier) over the skin to prevent water loss. This means more hydration resulting to plump, healthy skin.

A quick history: Slugging dates back to the 15th century when the Native American Seneca tribe applied petroleum jelly from oil pits to wounds to keep it hydrated. Throughout hundreds of years, other ethnic communities also practiced a skincare ritual of applying petroleum jelly to their face and bodies all for the same reasons, to retain moisture.

Futurewise’s Slugging system consists of three products: Slug Boost, Slug Cream and Slug Balm all made up of humectants, emollients and occlusives that work as layers to keep your skin plump and moisturized.

I was lucky enough to try out all three products and I can honestly say that I am a slug believer.

SLUG BOOST

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 out of 5 stars

This ultra fine mist provided enough coverage for my entire face with just two quick spritzes. It definitely hydrates my skin fast and gave a clean surface to start my skincare routine. No scent.

SLUG CREAM

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5 stars

This worked like a dream. A very smooth cream that felt like silk as I massaged onto my face and neck. It contains a vegan triple lipid complex to preserve moisture . Lipids are the important natural fats in our skin that hold the cells together in our skin barrier and I can’t stress enough how great this felt. Most moisturizers feel medicinal if not a flat texture.

SLUG BALM

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5 stars

This lightweight facial oil sealed the deal for me that slugging is the way to truly repair and maintain nourished, healthy skin. A little really goes a long way, this little jar lasted close to two months. Texture is so creamy that I actually licked some off of my finger and it tasted good. 😬 I really enjoyed my morning face, it looked like I had just come from the spa.

Futurewise is affordable and available at Target and on their website. I totally recommend using all three products especially during the harsh winter months for that added moisture and skin protection. Also, the bottle and containers are so cute and beautifully designed that I have reused them for other purposes.
