5 Good Songs to Add to Playlist

ARTIST: Peggy Gou

SONG: (It Goes Like) Nanana

This is the first single to her debut album and has been my dance song all summer long. With its 90’s feels and soft girl vocals, it transports you to a hot cafe spot somewhere in Europe.

ARTIST: Little Simz

SONG: Gorilla

“Gorilla” is the highlight song from her album No Thank You, at least for me, because I am always down to get hyped by its get ready for this intro that dives into its bass lines. The UK rapper has delivered creative visuals and TikTok memes with its catchy first liner, “Sim Simma, who got the keys to my bloodclaat Bimmer”. If you’re not reciting that at least once a day, well you must.

SONG: New Jeans

From their second ep Get Up is a song that replicates their brand, their own name, and pretty much their aesthetic. A NewJeans track follows the path of a good Nordic style beats, enough combo of Korean and English vocals and that’s why I’m particularly drawn to “New Jeans”. It’s not overly bubbly, not overly produced and I can listen and work to it at the same time.

ARTIST: Itzy

SONG: Cake

First of all I love any pop song that can work in violins as “Cake” does in its intro. This energetic K-pop song gives me the same quick energy as Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl”. So, I mostly turn this on when getting ready and I want to be in a spirited mood or during a Sunday Reset aka cleaning day.

ARTIST: Film School

SONG: All I’ll Ever Be

The indie shoegaze song of the summer is by Los Angeles band Film School, whose new album felte drops on August 25th, 2023. If you want to travel back to simpler times, pre-Bieber, pre-Kardashians era, when your most trusted friend was indeed an iPod, play this song for instant bliss.
