Review: Athena Club (Part 1)

I’m calling Athena Club the official self care club. It’s an online hq for all your essential health and body care products that are sustainable, cruelty free and affordable. I can’t help but wonder if the mythological goddess Athena lends herself to the brand name. As the goddess of strength, wisdom, inspiration, she would be a likely heroine for a body care line made for women. Built as a subscription model, Athena Club also offers items as one-off purchases. There’s a lot of flexibility in the monthly subscription, you basically curate it based on your self care needs.

SOFT FACE WIPES ($12)

☆☆☆☆ (4 out of 5 stars)

This is basically a serum in a wipe. It does remove my makeup very easily and gently and surprisingly, my entire eye makeup with just one swipe. The cloth size is a plus, one was more than efficient for daily use. Unlike a lot of other cleansing and makeup removal wipes I’ve used in the past, Soft Face Wipes actually cleans every pollutant off your face. You can feel how fresh and clean your face is afterwards.

Now, the reason I’m giving it 4 stars is due to my sensitive skin as it did feel a little harsh for me. I think the reason may be that with the serum already in my regimen, particularly my Vitamin C, when I wipe along the cheeks it gives a slight burning effect. Other than that, I am in love with the ingredients in this product, my favorites being Vitamin B3, B5, cucumber, chamomile and aloe leaf. If you do have sensitive skin, just be wary upon use and go gently, or maybe apply mostly for eye makeup removal.

ALL DAY DEO $12

☆☆☆☆ (4 out of 5 stars)

Yes, as the name applies it does stay on all day long. This solid stick plant based deodorant leaves no crusty residues and keeps you odorless as possible, thanks to its sage oils and probiotics ingredient. I like the lightweight scents of bergamots, peaches and vanilla rolled into one and appreciate the jojoba oil, which soothes and wards off any irritations or rashes. I am waiting for warmer temps to see how this works under a small or big heatwave (hence my 4 out of 5 stars).

There is no aluminum in this product. We would never review anything with aluminum.

DAILY MULTI ($28/MONTH)

☆☆☆☆☆ (5 out of 5 stars)

The story of my life in terms of daily vitamins is that I’ve never ever found a multivitamin that I felt comfortable with. Being a vegetarian, I’ve always just assumed that my regular intake of salads, fruit smoothies and broccoli rice bowls would be suffice for overall health. I mean yes, I can commend myself for being a healthy eater 87% of the time but fact is that I’ve never trusted vitamins as pills. Why take something with synthetic ingredients when I can eat a healthy veggie brown rice bowl?

The Daily Multi seems to be the antithesis of any vitamin supplement I’ve ever tried to take. Swallowing pills has been an insecurity since childhood, but Athena Club uses infused peppermint oil to ease the process. And it works, I have no issues with swallowing two dosages daily and I love anything mint flavor. There are no synthetic fillers, I don’t experience any nausea after swallowing and its ingredients list is a dream team of what your body truly needs on a daily basis. Personally, I trust every ingredient and believe that it’s worth the monthly subscription price.

DAILY PROBIOTIC ($28/MONTH)

☆☆☆☆☆ (5 out of 5 stars)

I’m still in the learning phase of my probiotics education, but what I do know is that gut health is so essential to staying alive and healthy. And with that your body does require good bacteria, which is what probiotics is - think kimchi, yogurt and kombucha. A lot of the things I love about this Daily Probiotic are mostly the same qualities as the Daily Multi. By the way, both the Daily Probiotic and Daily Multi are vegan, non-GMO and Kosher certified.
