3 Music Tours To Keep On Your Radar In 2021

by Azucena Melchor

As a student living in NYC, one of the things I’ve been happiest to experience is the overload of live music that’s available here, so my first time back in a concert venue this summer was quite a beautiful moment for me.

In honor of our return (although it may be brief) to everyone’s favorite thing to do at night, here are a few artists who I look up to, who just so happen to be going on tour in the coming months…

Foushée

Foushée’s clear voice and compelling music aren’t the only reasons she’s great. Having grown popular on social media in the past two years after a sample of hers blew up on TikTok, she’s an inspiration to those of us who need a reminder to take credit where it’s due, not to mention a growing fashion icon. Catch her on tour for her June 2021 album “time machine” in major cities across the US in the next three months.

Serena Isioma

From the crowd of artists who found pandemic-era popularity, one artist in particular stands out. Serena Isioma, who gained a devoted following for their March 2020 EP “Sensitive”, makes music that transcends genres and is fun to listen to. A fantastic live performer, Isioma begins their tour for EP “The Leo Sun Sets” next month and can be seen in Brooklyn, Atlanta and San Francisco among other places.

Rina Sawayama

London-based Rina Sawayama, who came to the pop scene a bit earlier than Foushée or Isioma, is the definition of cool. Along with her music, which instantly transports you to a dance floor, Sawayama models and acts. Often called “maximalist,” she embodies the term in every way, never missing with her bold songwriting and forward fashion choices. After the conclusion of her fall 2021 Europe tour, she will appear at venues across the US in spring 2022.
