Ulla Johnson is looking for a Senior Technical Designer, Knitwear, to join our Design Team! We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Women’s Knitwear Technical Designer to support our Knitwear Design Director. In this role, you will support the knitwear Design Director, collaborating and bringing innovative designs from concepts to production.

Salary Range: $100,000.00- $120,000.00 (*Compensation may vary based on factors such as years of experience, skills, and qualifications. Ulla Johnson reserves the right to offer a salary outside of this range based on these considerations.)

REQUIREMENTS

10+ years of experience in the Fashion Industry
Fashion Degree

Skills:

Excellent knitwear knowledge
PROFICIENT IN OFFICE (EXCEL,WORD,POWERPOINT), ADOBE (PS,ID,AI)

RESPONSIBILITIES

YARN RESEARCH (alongside with Design Director)

Yarn knowledge (gg, compositions, nm)
Attend seasonal yarn shows and make brand appropriate selection
Receive color cards and add pricing & MOQ information to all yarn cards to facilitate development selection
Edit previous seasons cards and keep yarn color cards organized and up to date in storage closets

STITCH/YARN TRIALS LAUNCH (alongside with Design Director)

Organize and format all reference swatches to loan to factories and create stitch trial tech packs & requests with specific construction and gauge information
Request current stock positions from yarn suppliers to choose ideal colors for development
Advise factories which yarns/colors to order for development
Answer any queries regarding stitch development
Add images or references to knitwear boards

CREATE COMPLETE TECH PACKS FOR ALL KNITWEAR STYLES

Assign style numbers and add to master chart in shared drive. Create seasonal Knitwear folder in shared drive and organize tech packs, stitch development, fit photos, factory photos etc
Tech packs must be complete with all factory/stitch/gauge & yarn information
Detailed construction & finishings
Body measurements
Making digital pattern and mock-ups when necessary
All relevant digital images

FACTORY ALLOCATION/CORRESPONDENCE

Reply to all emails every day, essential to keep work flow smooth and meet seasonal deadlines
Trouble shoot technical questions, yarn & knitting issues
Push factories to send digital images of all samples prior to shipping

SEASONAL CALENDAR (alongside with Design Director)

Review with production team and beginning with show date build calendar with Proto launch, yarn selection, SMS colors, fittings schedule, SMS launch etc

RECEIVE AND PREPARE SAMPLES FOR FITTING

Measure/steam samples prior to fitting
Anticipate any issues with samples, mock up and organize options for review during fitting

NOTES & MEASUREMENTS DURING FITTING

Take all fit & construction notes during fittings, take fit photos
Update all tech packs in shared drive with revised body specs, construction details and fit photos
Prepare samples to return to factories with construction notes and pinned corrections
