Klarna is Hiring a Creative Director (NYC)

Currently looking for a Creative Director to join our Global Brand Activation team based in NYC. The Brand Activation team at Klarna is responsible for developing, evolving, and building Klarna’s brand. Ultimately, we are continuing to build a brand we are proud of and that people talk about. We are looking for a creative leader that understands brand marketing and can flex between building campaigns to generate press/consumer excitement, all the way down to mid-funnel work that is more educational in nature. We work closely with leadership, global creative teams, marketing teams, social teams, and comms teams to create compelling work that maintains our brand consistency across our many channels. The creative director who will be successful in this role is well versed at creating untraditional campaigns, has executed work that pushes culture forward, understands the full marketing funnel, and still has a hunger and passion to do the work while also being able to oversee junior teams.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 12+ years experience at a creative agency

  • A passion for developing great creative work that is suitable for the brand.

  • Can make great work that is both creative and effective

  • High on talent, low on ego.

  • College preferable but not required

  • The headspace to think through creative ideas in an organised / constructed way

  • A demonstrated history of participating ideas that have a cultural impact (not just traditional thinking)

  • Scrappiness and resourcefulness

  • Willingness to jump in and redirect a project that’s about to lose its creative integrity

  • Ability to handle projects and figure it out even when the brief is incomplete / not all the answers are known to us

  • Self-motivated, problem solver who thrives in a collaborative team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop groundbreaking brand creative work.

  • Creating brand ideas that can be used across various platforms and able to think holistically and untraditionally

  • Manage/mentor junior creative teams.

  • Be a maker, doer, thinker, and executor, top to bottom.

  • Collaborate closely with our internal content and designs teams to drive the creative concept and execution of our brand initiatives.

  • Present your work articulately to upper management, with a clear rationale for the idea

  • Being able to deliver creative work against a strategy (brand and comms)
