amika is Hiring a Freelance Senior Art Director (Brooklyn, NY/Hybrid)
amika is looking for a Senior Art Director who can think in big, culture-shaping ideas and execute them with precision and style. You’ll be leading the visual side of our largest 2026 campaigns—high-craft, trend-aware work that flexes across OOH, digital, social, retail, influencer activations, and events. This is a chance to work in-house without giving up the creative pace, autonomy, and cultural edge of an agency—plus, you’ll have direct visibility with the CEO and CMO.
day rate: $600 - $750 per day
location: hybrid (must be based in NYC/NJ + have the right to work in the US)

REQUIREMENTS
7+ years in agency art direction, with beauty experience required; adjacent industries (fashion, lifestyle, luxury) a plus
A portfolio of high-craft, culturally fluent work that’s lived across all major channels
Proven ability to create big ideas that adapt into platform-specific executions without losing impact
Strong verbal presentation skills and a confident, strategic POV
Highly collaborative, resourceful, and energized by fast-moving, lean teams
RESPONSIBILITIES
Concept & Design 360 Campaigns: Lead visual development from brainstorm to final execution for campaigns that live across every touchpoint
Social-First Thinking: Ideate campaign extensions that are inherently shareable and tailor creative for each platform’s nuances while maintaining brand cohesion
Collaborate Closely: Partner with copywriters, designers, and marketing to ensure visuals and messaging work as one unified idea
Set the Visual Standard: Create mood boards, storyboards, and art direction guides that inspire internal teams and external partners
Oversee Execution: Guide designers and vendors through final production, ensuring every asset meets the highest level of craft
Support on Set: Ensure visual direction translates seamlessly during shoots—both photo and video
Trend Spotting: Keep the brand ahead of beauty, fashion, and cultural trends and identify opportunities for visual innovation
Maximize Assets: Work with the social and content teams to ensure campaign shoots produce a diverse library of content for ongoing use
