Squarespace is Hiring a Senior Product Designer, Activation (NYC/Hybrid)

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our Activation team within the Growth organization. In this role, you’ll design onboarding and guidance experiences that help customers confidently launch their business—from publishing their first site to setting up their store. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to shape AI-assisted tools and intelligent workflows that make complex tasks feel approachable and achievable. Your work will help new users build momentum, gain clarity, and turn ideas into action faster than ever before. This is a hybrid role based in our New York City headquarters. You will report to a Senior Product Design Manager.

Cash Compensation Range: $153,500 - $247,250 USD. The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.

REQUIREMENTS

5-7 years of experience designing and shipping web or mobile products
Strong interaction and visual design skills, with an eye for clarity and simplicity
Experience in building interactive prototypes that include animation and microinteraction.
Enthusiasm for designing helpful, approachable user experiences that empower people to start and grow something new
Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams and incorporating feedback from research and analytics
Interest in emerging technologies, especially AI-powered tools that enhance creativity and reduce setup complexity
Familiarity with design systems and a desire to build on shared standards
Curiosity about onboarding, activation, and growth experiences in a product-led environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design intuitive, action-driven experiences that support new customers in setting up their websites and online businesses.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Content Strategy, and Research to explore how AI can support onboarding, content creation, and business setup.
Identify friction in the new user journey and contribute ideas that make tasks simpler, faster, and more satisfying.
Prototype ideas, contribute to user research and usability testing, and participate in design critiques.
Leverage our design system while helping evolve patterns as product capabilities expand.
