New Girl: Dounia

Dounia is only 19 and goes by one name. She may be a newcomer on the music scene, but not so new to social media land with a 30k hit following on Instagram. Raised in New York City with Moroccan roots, the singer-songwriter's new single "East Coast Hiding" is in homage to her hometown. And similar to other cool teens today, Dounia is also an activist for the causes that are dear to not just her peers, but to the world at large. She is especially vocal in body conscious issues for females. Her words feel like nuyorican poetry set to music, like hypnotic jazz vibes for the under thirty.
