TikTok is the only social media platform (for now) that not only gets the green light and thumbs up with the grandparents worldwide, but if TikTok taught us anything at the start of the pandemic it was a multitude of dance moves and a bevy of cooking tutorials. Never a dull moment when there’s haunted house tours, cats, doggos doing things, the cinematic morning walks to go get coffee, the million ootd’s and so - much - good- food.

Not only does TikTok influence us buy things, but it can also teach us things in ways that all the other social media apps cannot. There’s something for everyone and anything that could be of interest is somehow entertaining.

Fashion Week feels like it officially returned whilst during such an upheaval, emotional time with still being in the pandemic but with the start of a new war. The Russian attacks into the Ukraine impacted how the world decided to stand up for peace by placing sanctions against Russia. Fashion houses went beyond the donation commitment to Ukraine charities by halting retail distribution to Russia. Designers also showed their personal narrative to show empathy towards refugees. This is one of those times where it is an important time to be on social media.

Balenciaga AW22

Balenciaga’s Autumn-Winter 2022 show took a very personal turn in reflection of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. The brand’s Creative Director /Designer Demna Gvasalia takes the situation to heart having been a war refugee from Georgia during the mid 1990’s. Snow fallen paths and models trudging along the runway carrying garbage bags instead of luxury accessories, Balenciaga honed in to the global impact of how war affects fashion, people and the environment.
