That Girl in That Group .......

That girl is never celebrated enough. In fact if there was to ever be a national holiday, letโ€™s even settle for an Instagram holiday, how would it play out? Would there be poems written about her, a custom font, a dedicated hashtag that would somewhere find its way on to a t-shirt, and a Sephora discount code for anyone who brings in a favorite photo of that girl. That girl doesnโ€™t get treated as well as donuts do on National Donut Day.

What could we say about that girl? Maybe that sheโ€™s the one who remembers that your mom had knee surgery and asks about it the next time you bump into each other on the street. She is always carrying a tote bag. And you can tell from a quick look that the fact itโ€™s not overstuffed or bulky, she is well equipped. However, there is also enough room left for spontaneity like a bag of croissants that are just about done for the day as she passes her favorite bakery. She is always making a new playlist for every mood and memory. Sentimentality is important to her. She keeps things to remember a day in Coney Island. On the night of her bestfriendโ€™s birthday when her boyfriend proposed to her, she kept a matchbook with the date written on the inside cover and included it inside their wedding gift months later. She keeps her childhood dog Brandyโ€™s collar hanging by the front door so that when she arrives home, his presence is felt. She believes that everyone that comes into your life is for a reason.

She is that girl in the friend group who tells you to text her when you get home. And she means it, because if you donโ€™t she will worry herself to no end. And then youโ€™ll get a call as soon as youโ€™re about to snore yourself to sleep.
