5 Good Looks From Proenza Schouler SS23

My favorite thing about Proenza Schouler’s spring-summer collection is how reminiscent it is of Madonna’s 90’s concert tour documentary Truth or Dare. The oversized flamenco sleeves and bottoms makes me want to twirl and start Vogueing (yet if only I knew how).

With digital waterfalls as the backdrop, Venezuelan trans musician Arca opened the show in a draped two-piece that also reminded me of an 1980’s Madonna music video. The collection feels celebratory and proud, as Lazaro Hernandez said to Vogue’s Nicole Phelps, “I leaned into my Latin identity, I’m Cuban,” he said. The designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough collaborated with artisan weavers in Bolivia who contributed four pieces in the spring-summer line.
